Newfoundland: East Coast Adventure

Meet Gini Collins: Adventurer, Explorer, & Client

Gini CollinsI love adventure! I’ve been hiking since the 70’s and my treks have taken me to places like New Zealand, Peru, Turkey, Colorado, Vancouver Island, the Canadian Rockies, and Nova Scotia, but Newfoundland is without question my favorite destination!

I love this trip because of the spectacular coastal scenery and hiking, kayaking among thousands of Puffins, Mers, and other seabirds, and most of all the people and traditions of Newfoundland.

Newfoundland Row HousesAs a Canadian, I’m well aware of the role Newfoundland has played in North America’s history and to experience this in St. John’s, North America’s oldest city, is truly an event you’ll never forget. The charming and multi-colored row houses, the strong Irish maritime culture and the friendliest people you’ll ever meet make this an adventure you’ll never want to end.

Newfoundland Sea StackThe East Coast Trail is spectacular! Where else can you have incredible cliffs and views, sea stacks, whales, and 10,000 year old icebergs drifting by as you hike? I never thought anything would top the hiking I’ve done in Vancouver Island and New Zealand, but this trip did. Not only was our hiking superb, but our two day kayaking tour was one of the best. Paddling in the ecological preserves and sanctuaries among phenomenal populations of birds was truly impressive, and our guide was outstanding.

WorldWide Trekking laid out a fabulous itinerary and we had the chance to explore several world-class attractions like the Johnson Geo Center, The Rooms, Signal Hill and Cabot Tower. I’m already planning a return next year!

Intro to Backpacking

Experience
Southeast Wyoming
September 2–6, 2009

A Note from our Web Designer:

The closest I have come to hiking is walking trails in Colorado with my family while clutching a map and carrying water and snacks in a fanny pack. Well, Mike's enthusiasm for hiking is contagious!

In September, my husband and I will be on the Intro to Backpacking trip! (Yes, we are paying and no, I wasn't asked to write this.) We are really excited!

We know little about equipment but Mike and his team have been so helpful! They took us to shop for our gear so we got the best values. They'll answer your questions including embarassing ones … like how do you potty in the woods? (Want to read them? GO)

If you want to try backpacking but don't know how to get started, now is the time! Our guides will teach us about proper backpacking technique, campsite selection, cooking, and trip planning. They are so knowledgeable that even an experienced backpacker is bound to learn a few new tricks.

We hear the scenery in Southeast Wyoming is spectacular! While no doubt nature will be the highlight of this trip, we also spend a night in a historic Old West hotel and visit the hot springs in Saratoga.

Come with us!
It's going to be amazing!
